6th Grade Band Sign-Up Information

Instrument fittings last around 10-20 minutes, depending on how busy we are. 3:45pm - 4:45pm tends to be our busiest time.

You may come to any of the fittings, even if you do not attend that particular elementary school. 

If you cannot make it to any of the dates, please contact Christie Berger at christieberger@claytonschools.net to set up an alternative fitting date.

Attending an instrument fitting is not a commitment to joining Band for the 2026-27 school year. This is an opportunity to explore all of the available instruments so they can learn their strengths and interests.

Both of these instruments tend to be popular choices and each only has a limited number of spots available to ensure ensemble balance. These screenings will occur at the instrument fitting nights. We will reach out to all families regarding instrument selections and placement within the Band by the end of February. If you are committed to joining the Band, please register for the class during 6th Grade Course Selection.

After instrument placements are sent out, if you would like to get a "jump-start," you may contact us to find a private instructor.

Let us know when you come to an instrument fitting about your prior musical experience! If you already play alto saxophone or percussion, you will still need to complete a screening.
