Director of Bands - alyssaovermann@claytonschools.net
Hello! I'm Alyssa Overmann, and I'm THRILLED to be in Clayton! It's an exciting time for the band program, and I'm grateful to be part of it. This is my 6th year in Clayton, and 17th year teaching. As Director of Bands, I teach the Clayton High Symphonic Band, Clayton High Instrumental Jazz Ensemble, Clayton High Pep Band, and CHS Electronic Music and Piano classes. At Wydown Middle School I assist with 8th grade band.
I have my Bachelors in Music Education from Missouri State University and my Masters in Educational Administration & Leadership from McKendree University.
Outside of school, I live across the river in Illinois with my husband Eric, boys Callen (4) and EJ (infant). We really enjoy getting outdoors and moving - I like weightlifting, running, biking, etc. We also love spending our free time with family and friends, and are big sports fanatics - the St. Louis Blues & Cardinals are our favorite teams!!!
Woodwind Specialist - christieberger@claytonschools.net
I am the Woodwind Specialist at Wydown Middle School and Clayton High School and I am looking forward to serving as the conductor of the CHS Woodwind Choir and as the co-director of the WMS Wind Ensemble.
I earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Missouri State University and a Master of Arts in Music with an emphasis in conducting from Webster University. I have spent 14 years as a band director in the Hazelwood School District and 7 years in the Fox C6 School District, where I specialized in beginning band.
My philosophy in music education is centered on the belief that the role of a music educator is to cultivate each student's unique passion for music, serving as a catalyst for their journey in performing and creating music. Through rigorous lessons and the creation of a growth-minded and inclusive environment, students will cultivate music literacy, theory, instrumental techniques, and ensemble skills, shaping them into individual performers and collaborative ensembles.
Every student deserves access to music education and the opportunity to be empowered by its benefits. I am committed to providing a learning environment where students are encouraged to explore their musical potential, collaborate with their peers, and push the boundaries of their creativity.
In my free time, my husband and I are often busy working on an addition to our home. I also enjoy Crossfit, Olympic weightlifting, cooking, traveling, playing and performing on my flute, and spending quality time with my family and pets.
Brass Specialist - thomasperry@claytonschools.net
Hello!
My name is Thomas (Tommy) Perry and I am thrilled to be working at Wydown Middle and Clayton High as the Brass Specialist Band Director! I am currently in my 11th year of teaching and formerly served the past 6 years as the Director of Bands at Fox High School, preceded by a role as Assistant Director of Bands in the Warren Co. R-3 School District. My journey as a music educator began with a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from Missouri State University, followed by a Master's degree from The American Band College of Central Washington University in Ellensburg, Washington.
During my time at Fox High School, I had the honor of serving as the East Central District #7 High School Jazz Vice President from 2020 to 2024. I'm also proud to have been recognized as a finalist for the 2021-2022 Fox High School Teacher of the Year Award and subsequently awarded the 2022-2023 Fox High School Teacher of the Year Award. As Director of Bands, I directed a range of ensembles including the Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Marching Band, three curricular Jazz Ensembles, and the Pep Band. In addition to being an educator, I am still an active performer on trumpet in the St. Louis Area and can be found performing through the year in many different capacities.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time outdoors and am an avid archer and disc golf enthusiast. However, my greatest joy comes from spending time with my wife, Kaitlyn, and our son, Chip as well as our 4 cats (Shirley, Stanley, Sonny and Salem).

Prior to teaching in Clayton, I was the Assistant Director of Bands in the Mt. Vernon School District in Missouri.
